The motion
That the Parliament recognises that 20 November is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance; acknowledges that, on this day, the lives of trans and non-binary people reported murdered in the last 12 months are remembered; understands that, in the last year, at least 369 trans and non-binary people were killed globally; commends those who continue to positively show their solidarity with the trans community and who will host events and vigils across Scotland for trans people and their allies on 20 November, including the Scottish Trans Alliance, LGBT Youth Scotland and Unite the Union Scotland’s LGBT+ Committee; welcomes the actions of those who continue to work to improve understanding of the needs and experiences of trans and non-binary people and to empower them in the workplace, including Unison, which has created workplace resources that can be utilised by union representatives, union members, employees and employers; recognises the need to tackle inequality in all its forms in order to end violence against groups that continue to be persecuted, including trans and non-binary people in Scotland, and encourages MSPs to stand up for equality and human rights for all.
