Kayleigh Haggo Sets Race Running World Record
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kayleigh Haggo on winning Gold for Britain in the RR3 100m category for Race Running at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, setting a new world record of 18.32 seconds in the process; acknowledges that the 20-year-old from Maybole, who has cerebral palsy, dedicated her victory to her coach, Janice Eaglesham, who died earlier in 2019; understands that this is the first year that the event, in which athletes use a race runner, which is a three-wheeled frame invented in Denmark in 1991, to support their body, has been included at the championships; applauds Kayleigh on her victory, and wishes her continued success.
