Tighean Innse Gall, Installer of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Tighean Innse Gall (TIG), which is based in the Western Isles, on winning the Installer of the Year category at the Energy Action Scotland (EAS) Fuel Poverty Awards 2019, which recognised excellence in the fight to eradicate fuel poverty; notes that the event was part of the EAS annual conference and exhibition; recognises that TIG operates in the housing sector in the Western Isles and provides a range of services, including insulation, care and repair, development and energy advice, to benefit the community as a whole; commends it on combining HEEPS:ABS Scottish Government energy efficiency funds and ECO funds from larger utility companies to reach over 235 households for every 1,000, which, it believes, is the highest proportion in Scotland; understands that TIG is the managing agent for the HEEPS scheme in Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, which has seen over £12 million in funding received since its inception in 2013, benefitting 2,500 households, and wishes TIG continued success.
