Edinburgh Gang Show 2019
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the long-standing annual tradition of the Gang Show in Edinburgh, when over 250 young people from Scouting and Girlguiding appear at the King’s Theatre with their spectacular production, the 60th Edinburgh Gang Show; understands that on 14 November 1960 the first Edinburgh Gang Show was performed at the theatre, and that for nearly sixty years young people from Scouting and Girlguiding in Scotland’s capital have taken part, entertaining audiences of thousands; notes that the production gives young people the opportunity to perform in one of the city’s much-loved theatres and, through their participation, the young people gain skills for life; recognises that the Gang Show is a major part of the Scouting and Girlguiding programme and that, with the enthusiasm, commitment and ongoing support from its followers, there will be show-stopping musical numbers, fabulous choreography, stunning individual performances and comedy routines, and wishes all concerned in the production, including the support behind the scenes by many adult volunteers, every success.
