The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Kirkwall High Street on being named as Scotland’s Most Beautiful High Street 2019; notes that the competition is organised and judged by the national towns agency, Scotland’s Towns Partnership, and the environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful; recognises that Kirkwall was one of eight nominations for the prestigious accolade, which is based on factors including community participation and environmental responsibility; believes that this award is well-deserved recognition of the outstanding efforts of the Kirkwall BID team, chaired by Duncan McLean, in collaboration with local businesses and residents, who have worked hard to make Kirkwall High Street a thriving, green and attractive high street to be proud of; recognises the importance of creating vibrant town centres, and congratulates all the nominees for this year’s award.
