John McMenamin Named Scottish Apprentice of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates John McMenamin, a plasterer from Greenock, on being named Scottish Apprentice of the Year; notes that the 21-year-old received the prize at the 2019 Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Apprenticeship Awards in London, which celebrated the achievements of apprentices and employers across the UK; understands that John works alongside his dad and grandad at their family business, John McMenamin Plastering Services Ltd; recognises that John also won gold in plastering at the UK final of CITB’s Skillboard competition; acknowledges that John will go on to mentor future graduates at the City of Glasgow College, where he studied, having completed construction ambassador training through WorldSkills; believes that these awards highlight John’s commitment to his job and determination to improve his skills and pass on his knowledge to future graduates, and wishes him well for the future.
