Golden Jubilee Surgeons Perform Robotic-assisted Surgery
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the surgeons at the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Clydebank who recently carried out a robotically-assisted full knee replacement procedure for the first time by the NHS in Scotland; believes that, although joint replacement is one of the NHS's most common types of surgery, robotic arm-assisted surgery means that such operations can be performed with greater accuracy, resulting in less soft-tissue trauma and quicker recovery; understands that the robotic arm will assist in over 300 knee replacement procedures in its first year and will also be used with hip replacements, and commends the medical professionals at the Golden Jubilee, and their team, on their pioneering use of this cutting-edge technology.
