Scottish Parliament Women's Network, Championing Gender Equality
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates its Women’s Network on winning the Championing Gender Equality category at the Scottish Public Services Awards, which were held on 4 December 2019; commends Sam Currie and the team on their work to establish period and menopause policies that benefit staff and visitors; considers that menstruation and menopause continue to be taboo subjects, with many having difficulty accessing period products during the working day; welcomes the steps that the Women’s Network has taken to make the Parliament more period- and menopause-friendly, and encourages other workplaces, as well as public buildings and tourist attractions, to follow the Network’s example and take similar steps to highlight the need to end period poverty and ensure equal access for all.
