The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges that the World’s Big Sleep Out took place on 9 December 2019; notes the work of the World’s Big Sleep Out Trust, which has been established by the co-founder of Social Bite, Josh Littlejohn, to bring the "Sleep in the Park" concept worldwide; acknowledges that 300 people took part in the 2016 CEO sleepout, 8,000 participated in 2017's Sleep in the Park, and 10,000 were involved in 2018; recognises that this concept, which started in Scotland, has now been taken to the global stage and that, this year, for one night, in gardens, hometowns and iconic locations around the globe, including Edinburgh, more than 50,000 people were estimated to have slept out to create the world’s largest display of solidarity and support for others experiencing homelessness and displacement; congratulates everyone involved in organising the event and all who participated, including people and businesses from the Uddingston and Bellshill constituency, such as William Grant & Sons, and believes that events such as this are important in raising funds and increasing awareness of the issues that people facing homelessness experience.
