NHS Fife Performs Scotland's First 12-hour Knee Replacement Operation

The motion

That the Parliament notes that NHS Fife has become the first health board in Scotland to perform a successful total knee replacement in 12 hours; notes that a patient from Lochgelly was the first to undergo this treatment; congratulates Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Sarah Mitchell, and her team, who carried out the surgery; welcomes the advent of day-case knee replacement in Fife and congratulates NHS Fife on its pioneering work; notes that there is also an elective orthopaedic centre at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, which is due to open in the next two years, which should assist in more day case operations, and wishes NHS Fife continued success in this field.
