David Stevens Hailed at Duke of Edinburgh Awards Ceremony
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates David Stevens, who is 18, on being presented with the Wilma Bain Award at a recent Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) awards ceremony; appreciates that the award was established in memory of Inverclyde Council’s corporate director of education, communities and organisational development, who tragically lost her life in April 2018 as a result of cancer; understands that the prize recognises outstanding achievement throughout the DofE scheme, which David, who attended St Columba’s High School in Gourock, had shown throughout; believes that the DofE scheme encourages young people to engage in expeditions and residential events that help them develop new skills, and thanks all the staff and volunteers who organise and arrange DofE activities in Inverclyde and across Scotland.
