Aberdeen Researchers in Global Clinical Trial into Huntington’s Disease
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Zosia Miedzybrodzka, who is Professor of Medical Genetics at the University of Aberdeen, and her team of researchers from the North of Scotland Huntington’s Disease Service, which is based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, on being selected as one of the 11 UK-based trial centre groups taking part in a global study into the condition; acknowledges that the trial is testing a drug that binds to the mutant Huntington’s gene product and that it is hoped that this process will slow the progression of the disease and lead to a much-improved quality of life; eagerly awaits the outcome of this world-class trial, and hopes that it will prove to be one of the definitive studies in the field of Huntington’s research.
