20th Anniversary of the Loss of the Solway Harvester
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that 10 January 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of the loss of the Solway Harvester, which was a scallop dredger carrying crew from the villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Whithorn and Garlieston in Wigtownshire; recalls that the lives of the skipper, Andrew (Craig) Mills, 29, his brother, Robin, 33, and their cousin, David Mills, 17, and Martin Milligan, 26, John Murphy, 22, David Lyons, 18, and Wesley Jolly, 17, were lost on the queen scallop grounds of the Irish Sea, and acknowledges the memorial service, which will be held at St Ninian’s Priory Church in Whithorn on 11 January, to remember these young men and the tragic event that resulted in the loss of their lives.
