Golden Friendships Community Halls' Successful 2019
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Golden Friendships Community Halls on a very successful 2019; notes that, last year the founder, Jim McLaren, spearheaded a positive fundraising campaign to raise more than £80,000 to buy a premises, the former 543 Club in Dalmuir; understands that work is now being carried out on the building, with different halls being named after members of the club; notes that the club now has more than 250 members and that dozens of others attend different events; further notes that the club, which was founded in January 2017, runs more than 10 different sessions and activities each week and is understood to be instrumental in helping create friendships and tackle loneliness in the community, and recognises the efforts of Jim and the other volunteers who have grown the group to be so successful in its first three years.
