The Sky’s the Limit for V&A Dundee
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes research by Ekogen and Reference Economics, commissioned by V&A Dundee, which shows that the museum has had a £75 million impact on the Scottish economy in its first year, including a £23 million impact in Dundee, which far exceeds earlier predictions of a £23 million impact nationally and a £10 million impact in Dundee; understands that the museum supported nearly 700 jobs in Dundee, and over 2,100 across Scotland; believes that the museum has had a significant impact on the wider Dundee economy, evidenced by 69% of visitors stating that they would not have visited other businesses in the city without V&A Dundee, and congratulates all those involved in the project, whose dedication, hard work and generosity have helped further enhance Dundee’s growing global reputation as one of the most exciting and vibrant cities in the world.
