100th Birthday of Helen Muir from Uddingston
The motion
That the Parliament celebrates the 100th birthday of Helen Muir, who is a war veteran from Uddingston and a founding staff member of the SNP; acknowledges that Helen, who is a mum-of-three, has enjoyed a full and varied life; notes that she started her first job aged 14 in 1934, when she was employed in the office of RB Cunningham Graham, who was a well-known Scottish politician, a founding member of the National Party of Scotland and the first President of the SNP; appreciates that, during the Second World War and while bringing up her family, Helen served in the ATS; recognises that she has followed a number of pursuits, such as working as an air traffic controller, headteacher and scientist, and that her many career highlights have included being one of the first members of the SNP's staff; believes that Helen has served as an inspiration to all throughout her life, and wishes her, and her family, all the very best for the future.
