Glasgow Gaelic School Receives Gold Sportscotland Award

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow Gaelic School on its recent gold sportscotland School Sport Award; understands that the award is funded by the National Lottery and is presented for innovation and achievement in delivering school sport and physical activity; notes that there are now 747 schools across the country now in possession of an award; understands that the school received the award after taking significant steps to embed sport at the heart of the school ethos with new and innovative approaches that have created new opportunities for pupils to participate and progress; believes its established Young Ambassadors programme has enabled pupils at the school to develop and run several sport clubs, including volleyball, table tennis, dodgeball and netball; notes that pupils at the school have also excelled in school sports, securing medals at the Glasgow Schools Cross Country Championships as well as winning the Glasgow Schools Netball League on two occasions; commends the efforts of both staff and pupils, and wishes them continued success in the sporting field.
