The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Just-Judo, which is a network of judo clubs based throughout Edinburgh and Midlothian, on being awarded £30,000 over four years in sportscotland Direct Club Investment; understands that the network, which offers classes for juniors and seniors, from beginners to international athletes, will use this to employ a part-time club development coach, as part of its approach to community engagement, Changing Lives Through Sport and Physical Activity; acknowledges that it will focus on changing people’s lives in Bonnyrigg and Lasswade, specifically through providing opportunities for members of the community who are not currently exposed to the sport to take part, expanding its female participation programme, Judo Girls Rock, which it organises in partnership the governing body, Judo Scotland, and by working with Active Schools to engage with looked after- and cared for- children in areas experiencing deprivation; acknowledges its aim of encouraging people to become more active by positively engaging with community sports hub activity, and wishes all involved with Just-Judo every success.
