Oban and Lorn Pupils Attend Under the Sea STEM Event at the Ocean Explorer Centre

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates everyone who helped to facilitate the participation of more than 90 young people from across Oban and Lorn in the recent Under the Sea Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) event at the Ocean Explorer Centre in Dunbeg, which is a visitor centre of the Scottish Association for Marine Science; recognises the vital importance of encouraging young people to engage in STEM-related activities and, in particular, those with a marine theme given its importance to the economy of the Highlands and Islands, and is encouraged that so many of the young people who took part, when surveyed afterwards, indicated that they would like to pursue a career in a STEM-related profession.
