The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen on receiving Purple Flag status for a seventh consecutive year, having been Scotland's first recipient of this in 2014; understands that the Purple Flag recognises towns and cities that provide diverse and entertaining night time experiences, while promoting the safety of visitors and residents; recognises the contribution of various organisations to ensure these high standards are met, including Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen City Council, Police Scotland, Unight, Street Pastors, Aberdeen's licenced traders and other key stakeholders; acknowledges that the city has been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the UK-wide Purple Flag award, which will be decided at the UK and Ireland’s Association of Town and City Management's annual gathering in June 2020; passes on its best wishes to all of the finalists at the Scottish and UK awards, and wishes them continued success.
