Transforming Wigtownshire Leads the Way on Community Education
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Transforming Wigtownshire, which is part of NHS Dumfries and Galloway, on what it considers was an excellent community education event on anticipatory care planning (ACP) and power of attorney (POA); notes that this took place at the Millennium Centre in Stranraer on 31 January 2020 and was well attended by people from the Wigtownshire area; understands that it provided the public with information regarding the importance of both realistic medicine and carrying out forward planning of the potential future care needs that they or their families may require so that families and healthcare professionals know the wishes of the people for whom the ACP is intended; acknowledges the commitment of the speakers and the staff who helped organise what it believes was a hugely important day, and encourages other NHS boards to consider hosting similar events to help educate the public regarding planning for future care needs.
