Work Begins at the Site of the New Scottish Marine Technology Park, Old Kilpatrick
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Malin Group has started work on the new Scottish Marine Technology Park at Old Kilpatrick; understands that this aims to create up to 1,000 new jobs for the area, with the site planned to be operational by 2024; notes that Malin Group staff were on site to see the work begin with the early site remediation; understands that it is hoped that the park will become a centre of excellence for marine technology innovation and complex marine manufacturing, and directly compliment the recently announced Clyde Mission; notes that it will include a deep-water jetty with a 1,100 tonne ship hoist and other modern amenities to attract growth in the marine engineering sector; recognises what it sees as the benefits that this development will have for the area, and looks forward to the Scottish Government and its agencies supporting initiatives such as this to create new industry on the River Clyde.
