Local Connection and Intentionality
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Government’s commitment to ending homelessness through the agreement to remove the barriers of local connection and intentionality; believes that, once achieved, this will reduce barriers that stop homeless people in Cowdenbeath and across Scotland getting the support that they need to end their homelessness, and will also enable local authorities to take a more person-centred approach to supporting them; notes that this is part of the Scottish Government’s commitment to end homelessness through the Ending Homelessness Together High Level Action Plan; considers that, once it is achieved, this change will bring Scotland closer to the ideal legislative framework for homelessness, as set out in the Crisis plan, Everybody In, to end homelessness in Great Britain; believes that Scotland has some of the strongest homelessness legislation in the world and has the first government in the UK to commit to ending homelessness, and congratulates third sector organisations, including Crisis, on their tireless policy and campaigning work to see homelessness end.
