Recognising the University of Aberdeen’s Partnership with Zomba Theological College

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the first class of graduates in a collaboration between the University of Aberdeen and Zomba Theological College, Malawi; understands the University’s centre for ministry studies providing training to ministers at the College, which helped to ensure that its students did not have to travel to the UK to study special masters degrees; notes that 13 graduates were awarded their degrees in theology in ministry studies at a recent ceremony in Malawi, with the awards being presented by Rev Professor Andrew Clark and Rev Dr Ken Jeffrey, the programme co-ordinator; understands that this is the first time that a Scottish university has led a postgraduate programme for church leaders in Africa, and that a second class of 15 students is currently progressing through the programme; sends its best wishes to the partnership’s organisers, teachers and students for future success, and welcomes this programme as another symbol of Scotland’s strong friendship of over 150 years with Malawi.
