Aberdeen, Scotland’s First Sustainable Fish City

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes a pledge by organisations to make Aberdeen Scotland’s first sustainable fish city; understands that Sustainable Fish Cities, an initiative formed by an alliance of non-profit organisations and co-ordinated by Sustain, promotes better food and farming practices and supports sustainable seafood issues; notes that the Aberdeen campaign is being co-ordinated by Granite City Good Food, with participating organisations including Robert Gordon University, Community Food Initiatives North East, DaVinci Ristorante Italiano and the Torry-based fish processing company, Joseph Robertson, with the latter committing to never using any unsustainable fish in its staff restaurant; commends the participating organisations for helping to ensure that Scotland’s vital fishing industry will have a sustainable future, and encourages other organisations in Aberdeen and across the country to get involved in this initiative.
