Fairtrade Fortnight
The motion
That the Parliament notes Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from 25 February to 10 March 2020; understands that a number of events are taking place in East Dunbartonshire and across Scotland, including a Fairtrade Fiesta organised by East Dunbartonshire Fair Trade Group, which will celebrate awareness of Fairtrade certification, which is trusted by 84% of consumers and crucially guarantees stability and a fair price for farmers around the world; commends the work of schools, churches and fair trade groups that are holding events to celebrate the news that East Dunbartonshire has successfully renewed its Fairtrade Zone status, and commends the Fairtrade certification, which also supports access to education and clean drinking water initiatives to benefit whole communities.
