The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the inaugural Scottish Heritage Lecture hosted by the FJSS Group in West Calder on 27 February 2020 and chaired by the inspirational Silence Chihuri, a Zimbabwean politician and human rights lawyer; understands that the keynote speaker will be Professor Sir Geoff Palmer, one of the most celebrated members of the black Scottish community and first black Scottish person of Caribbean heritage to be knighted for services to research, brewing science and human rights; acknowledges that the lecture is a celebration of Scotland’s diversity and an exploration of how this diversity could be used as a basis for building a successful and prosperous country, and wishes FJSS every success with the event.
