International Funding for BBC ALBA Projects
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Stornoway-based production company, MacTV, has been given £28,500 in international investment to produce content for BBC ALBA; understands that the funding was awarded by the Canada Media Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise through the Canada - Scotland Co-development Incentive for Television and Digital Media Content, which aims to develop screen-based projects between Canadian and Scottish producers; notes that money will be used to develop a project, which has the working title, Secrets in the Peat, along with a Canadian production partner, Cineflix; recognises what it sees as the importance of international media collaboration such as this, and acknowledges that such partnerships have resulted in £8 million-worth of original content for BBC ALBA over the years.
