Sara-Jane Burns
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Sarah-Jane Burns from Dollar in Clackmannanshire is to take part in one of the UK's greatest sporting challenges, the London Marathon, on 26 April 2020 in memory of her mother Joan, who died from bowel cancer in 2008, aged 59; notes that Sarah-Jane has already raised more than £1,000 and is hoping to raise more at a quiz night on 6 March at the Dollar Hive; acknowledges that, in 2018, to mark the 10th anniversary of her mother’s passing, Sarah-Jane took on 10 running challenges, including her first half marathon, finishing with total winnings of more than £3,000; notes that she is also a Rainbow Guide leader in Dollar and a member of the Wee County fundraising committee for Cancer Research UK; commends Sarah-Jane for her tireless work, and wishes her all the very best in her continuing endeavours.
