Jo Muir, Pentathlon World Cup Winner
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Jo Muir, from Haugh Of Urr in Galloway, on winning gold in the pentathlon at the first World Cup of the year in Cairo; understands that Jo impressed throughout the day before a strong performance in the run-shoot saw her rise from sixth to first; applauds Jo for holding off the best in the world; recognises that this continues her strong start to the year after she retained the Budapest indoor title in January 2020; recognises Jo’s commitment and contagious enthusiasm, which is of great encouragement to other budding athletes, and wishes Jo all the best in her bid to compete in the Olympics in Tokyo later this year.
