Coronavirus and Insurers
The motion
That the Parliament notes the concerns of businesses regarding the potential economic impact of the coronavirus, COVID-19; understands that, while the virus has now been declared by the Scottish Government as a notifiable disease, a number of insurance companies, including Aviva, will not accept claims for business disruption and losses arising directly as a consequence of COVID-19 not being on their own lists of accepted diseases, with standard business insurance policies covering only standard risks; believes that, given this is an exceptional event, businesses should check the small print of their policies to ascertain whether this is the case for them, and calls on the insurance companies and the Association of British Insurers to review their current position.
