Launch of Mindset Mental Health Programme in Aberdeen
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of Mindset, a mental health programme run by Grassroot Soccer, in specially selected schools in the north east; understands that Buchanhaven Primary School in Peterhead and Lochside Academy in Altens, Aberdeen, were selected for the project, which aims to mix sporting activities with discussions about health and wellbeing with young people; notes that, by participating in the project, it is hoped that young people will learn key skills such as communication and resilience to help improve their mental health and confidence to talk about any issues they may be experiencing; recognises the involvement of local organisations, including the University of Aberdeen and Aberdeen FC’s Community Trust, in delivering the project to these schools, and wishes the organisers, schools and their pupils every success in the future.
