Understanding Negative Attitudes Towards Disabled People
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the publication of the report, Understanding negative attitudes towards disabled people; notes that this is the culmination of the DRILL programme, which was an innovative UK-wide, five-year initiative that funded disability research on independent living and learning and was led by disabled people on a wide variety of issues important to disabled people; congratulates Inclusion Scotland on its role as one of the lead partners and the seven research projects that took place in Scotland; acknowledges what it sees as the persistent negative attitudes towards disabled people that still exist in society; notes with concern the negative impact that this has on the lives of disabled people in Lothian and across Scotland, and recognises the importance of tackling negative attitudes and exclusion through genuine co-production with disabled people in the design and delivery of all research and services.
