New Alloa Dementia Resource Centre
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that, once the COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed, a community-focused dementia resource centre will open in Mill Street, Alloa, which will serve people in the Forth Valley area, following a 12-month campaign to raise the £100,000 required to establish the facility; thanks the members of the Stirling and Clackmannanshire Volunteer Branch of Alzheimer Scotland on their hard work during the campaign and the many Clackmannanshire residents who went along to numerous events or who generously came forward with donations; notes that the centre will have advisors who will offer information and support and that it will organise community activities, informal drop-ins and dementia friends sessions as well as provide day-care for people living with late-stage dementia; commends Debbie Cassidy of Alzheimer Scotland and the members of her fundraising group for their tireless work; notes that recent donations include £400 from No71 Coffee House in Alva and £250, as well as general support throughout the campaign, from the Rotary Club of Alloa, and wishes everyone involved with the resource centre all the very best.
