Clackmannan Development Trust's Bike Loans for Key Workers
The motion
That the Parliament applauds the Clackmannan Development Trust, which is supporting frontline staff across the community by offering a free bicycle loan service to allow them to travel to and from work; understands that, with the area's bus operator suspending its services during the COVID-19 outbreak and car-sharing being difficult or impossible because of social distancing, the Trust identified that there were very few transport options for the workers to commute; acknowledges that the bike scheme is possible thanks to funding from Cycling Scotland, from which the Trust purchase a small fleet of cycles earlier in 2020; notes that the bikes are available in a range of sizes to meet everyone's needs; acknowledges that the key workers who already own a bike that might require some service work can receive this from Scott Bamford, who is the Trust's active travel co-ordinator; recognises that a number of workers have benefitted from the scheme, and commends everyone involved with this highly magnanimous gesture.
