Veteran Captain Tom Moore to Receive Knighthood
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Captain Tom Moore, a British war veteran, on being awarded a knighthood for his fundraising efforts; understands that Captain Moore has raised over £32 million for NHS charities by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday in April 2020; notes that he received the special nomination directly from the Prime Minister, and appreciates that, through his fundraising, Captain Moore has placed a spotlight not only on NHS key workers, but the wider experience of veterans living in lockdown across the UK and in Scotland, highlighting what it considers to be the need to appreciate their enduring examples of dedication and service to others.
