Pulmonary Rehab Week UK
The motion
That the Parliament recognises 15 to 21 June 2020 as Pulmonary Rehab Week UK; understands that the awareness week will highlight the benefit of accessing pulmonary rehabilitation to help people with a lung disease to live well with their condition; highlights that access to pulmonary rehabilitation improves muscle strength helping patients to use the oxygen they breathe more efficiently, helps patients cope better with feeling out of breath and improves fitness levels and confidence, all of which improve mental health; welcomes the hard work of physiotherapists to deliver pulmonary rehabilitation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, when much of the services delivered have moved online; understands that, due to the potential health complications of COVID-19, many people may need to access pulmonary rehabilitation as they recover from the virus; recognises that Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation Partnership have established a post-COVID Hub to help patients as they recover from COVID-19, and congratulates charities such as these on the work they do in championing the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation and in providing information and support to patients who have to access it.
