Network Rail's Support for Women in Engineering Day 2020
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that International Women in Engineering Day 2020 was marked on 23 June; notes that Network Rail used the day to celebrated the female engineers of Scotland’s railway by showcasing their work to raise their profile across the organisation; acknowledges that a Network Rail survey showed 77% of young women asked felt that there are not enough female role models in STEM; appreciates that a target has been set to increase the number of women in Network Rail by 50% as quickly as possible, taking its overall female representation to 26% with the aim of simultaneously empowering and inspiring young women to enter STEM education and career paths, and sends its best wishes to all of Scotland's female engineers, including those at Network Rail.
