Margaret Payne Raises Over £430,000 for Charity
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Margaret Payne, who is 90 and from Ardvar, Assynt in Sutherland, on raising more than £430,000 for charity by climbing her flight of stairs almost 300 times; understands that this trip is equal to summiting Suilven, a 2,389 feet mountain near Lochinver; notes that the money is to be shared between the Highland Hospice, NHS Highland and the RNLI, which helped care for Margaret's late husband before he passed away in 2019; recognises that Margaret has raised over 3,500% of her original goal of £10,000, and sends her its best wishes.
