The motion

That the Parliament celebrates the 72nd birthday of the NHS; understands that 5 July represents the anniversary of the founding of the NHS; remembers the 1948 culmination of a bold and pioneering plan to make healthcare no longer exclusive to those who could afford it but to make it accessible to everyone; believes that now, more than ever, the importance and success of the NHS should be celebrated; considers that the NHS has gone through many changes, improvements, updates and modernisation processes over the years; applauds the hard work, dedication and compassion shown by all NHS employees past and present; thanks each and every one of them for all they have done and continue to do on the frontline during the COVID-19 global health emergency, and believes that the NHS should always remain a publicly funded, free at the point of need, universal service with a bright and healthy future.
