Heart of Africa Providing Free Meals in Larkhall

That the Parliament congratulates Mr Tuoyo Ayiku on his recent Point of Light award from Prime Minister Boris Johnson who
recognised his commitment to helping others in his community during the
coronavirus pandemic; acknowledges the efforts of Mr Ayiku in providing thousands of free meals to vulnerable residents in Larkhall during lockdown; notes that Mr Ayiku and other volunteers have provided almost 5,000 meals since his lockdown menu, which features a range of meals from African stews to Scottish favourites, launched in May 2020; welcomes the collaboration between Mr Ayiku and the local community group, Larkhall Covid Rainbows, to help deliver the meals to residents, supporting those who are shielding; recognises that in 2015 Mr Ayiku founded the social enterprise, Heart of Africa, which seeks to facilitate community links between Scotland and Africa and bring people together through a love of food, including offering cooking classes and running a community café; notes that the Heart of Africa community café in Cambuslang has introduced a "pay-what-you-can box" for diners, and hopes that Larkhall and Cambuslang residents will patronise the café to enjoy its delicious dishes and learn more about the work of the charity, when it reopens.
