Members' Business Motion 14 supporters
The motion
That the Parliament recognises what it considers the importance of the agritourism sector to Scotland’s rural economy; welcomes the introduction of a new agritourism organisation that sits within the umbrella of the national Scottish Tourism Alliance, the largest membership organisation for tourism businesses in Scotland and the leading representative body for the Scottish tourism sector; acknowledges the work of the two agritourism monitor farms near North Berwick and Loch Lomond; believes that agritourism is important to Scotland by supporting jobs, retaining young people in the countryside and encouraging farm diversification, and notes the view that the sector would benefit from a clearer definition of agritourism in Scotland, a centralised database, agritourism qualifications at further education institutions, a star-rating accreditation scheme, better rural broadband and a commission to analyse the current landscape of agritourism businesses, in order that the sector can be better supported.
