In Memory of John Hume
The motion
That the Parliament notes with sadness the death of the Nobel Laureate and former Leader of the Social Democratic and Labour Party, John Hume; recognises his immense contribution and unwavering commitment over decades in the pursuit of peace, reconciliation and social justice in Northern Ireland and across these islands; acknowledges his commitment to respectful public discourse based on understanding, compassion and mutual respect for difference, and expresses its sincerest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the people of Northern Ireland and Ireland.
