Sophie Denholm from Bridge of Allan
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that Sophie Denholm, who is a Wallace High School pupil from Bridge of Allan, is embarking on a charity walk to St Andrews' Old Course; understands that Sophie is a keen golfer and will walk to the "home of golf" over two days in the autumn of 2020, with the aim of raising £3,500 for the On Course Foundation via a Gofundme webpage; acknowledges that she will cover a distance of 80km on 26-27 September, supported by her mother, Christine; notes that Sophie’s route will start at Balhaldie and take in the Gleneagles Hotel, Auchterarder, Bridge of Earn and Newburgh, and then onto St Andrews via Cupar, ending at the Old Course’s Swilcan Bridge; understands that the S6 pupil has also been a dancer since she was two years of age and hopes to perform and teach choreography after leaving school; acknowledges that, although the funding goal is £3,500, Sophie is hoping to exceed this; commends her for her truly magnanimous initiative, and wishes Sophie and her mother all the best with their walk.
