The Power of Football
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the NHS Grampian Endowment Fund’s generous donation of £50,000 to Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT); notes that this grant was made possible as a result of funds allocated by NHS Charities Together, from money raised by Captain Tom’s 100th birthday fundraising efforts; understands that the grant will be used to help AFCCT launch a new football-related programme to deliver physical and mental health education in areas of Aberdeen that have been hardest hit by COVID-19; believes that families in targeted neighbourhoods will be invited to take part in the project and work towards increasing their physical activity, becoming more resilient and strengthening their mental health; applauds AFCCT for its work to leverage the power of the Aberdeen FC brand and the passion for football to change lives for the better, empowering communities and individuals and developing the next generation of young people, and commends the NHS Grampian Endowment Fund, the official health charity of NHS Grampian, for making this funding available to support communities at this challenging time.
