150th Celebration of the Birth of Mahatma Gandhi
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that the two-year worldwide celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi ends on 2 October 2020; remembers Gandhi's significant contribution as a peaceful freedom fighter, the "father" of India and an inspiration to the world; acknowledges that he is revered by many people over the world as a symbol of unity and peace, and appreciates the contribution of the Indian community in Scotland to the country's society and economy.
