Borders' Digital Buddies
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the new Digital Buddies support programme in the Scottish Borders by Outside the Box; understands that this aims to support older people in the area who are keen to connect digitally with the wider world, learn new skills or become more confident using technology; believes that, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, being able to access online services and communication methods is an important way to prevent isolation; notes that, while many older people are already confident in their digital skills, a significant proportion of this group do miss out on the benefits of digital technology as a result of lack of confidence in their skills, and welcomes projects such as this that seek to address this disparity.
