The motion

That the Parliament acknowledges the fourth anniversary of the Sana’a funeral air strike, which took place on 8 October 2016 and led to at least 155 people being killed and 525 injured; believes that the Saudi-led coalition admitted responsibility for this airstrike; recognises the calls of civil society groups and NGOs, including the Campaign Against Arms Trade, to remember the victims and the many who have lost their lives throughout the ongoing six-year Yemen conflict; understands that 18,5000 Yemeni civilians have been killed or injured in airstrikes since the war began and that there have been many instances of hospitals and schools being targeted; highlights reports that Saudi military pilots have recently been training in exercises that have involved the use of Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness, Wick and Prestwick airports; understands that some former Saudi pilots have said that the coalition would be unable to continue what it sees as its violations of international human rights humanitarian laws in Yemen without the support of its Western allies, led by the UK and United States; further understands that human rights groups are in agreement that the UK is participating in war crimes by equipping Saudi Arabia with technical military training and assets, and believes that these groups have stated that, by doing so, the UK is contributing to what it sees as the world’s current humanitarian crisis.
