National Cholesterol Month
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that October 2020 is National Cholesterol Month, which is devoted to raising funds for HEART UK and awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol; believes that the public can help by joining in with HEART UK’s 100-mile Great Cholesterol Challenge by carrying out sponsored activities such as walking, running, swimming and cycling over 100 miles during the month to get fit and raise funds; acknowledges that the body needs cholesterol to build healthy cells, but that excessively high levels can increase the risk of heart disease; recognises that a healthy diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables will help to lower cholesterol, improve blood pressure, prevent diabetes and maintain a healthy weight, and sends its best wishes to all involved with National Cholesterol Month.
