Scotland's Colleges, Taking the Lead on COVID-19 Economic Response

That the Parliament welcomes the recently-published paper, The Cumberford-Little Report, One Tertiary System: agile, connected, inclusive; understands that this places the college network at the centre of Scotland's economic and social renewal; believes that colleges are evidenced as uniquely placed to rapidly implement measures to retrain, upskill, and re-energise people and their communities to move forward; considers that they are remarkably agile tertiary education and training institutions; acknowledges that the report concludes that the colleges are uniquely placed in society to enable and encourage social mobility, identify skills need and supply labour in a relatively rapid period of time; congratulates the co-authors of the report, the Principal and CEO of Edinburgh College, Audrey Cumberford, and the Principal and CEO of City of Glasgow College, Paul Little, for this work, which it believes can be used a blueprint for the necessary skills-led economic recovery from the specific challenges faced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes Scotland's colleges every continued success in their exceptional efforts to boost the productivity of the nation, while delivering transformative technological and professional education via up-skilling and re-skilling.
